Tournament Golf College was founded in 2009 with two main objectives:

To stop talented 17/18 year olds leaving school and turning professional because there was no UK based university programme dedicated to golf development and providing a pathway to the professional game.

To offer a European alternative to the American university system. Our top young players were often going to the US and either not returning, or at best, were not available to play for their club, region or country during the European golf season.

At TGC we have always been realistic in knowing that the route to the top of the professional game is a long and tough one. Only the best of the best will make it on to the world’s top tours. There is then a level at which it is possible to make a playing career whilst developing your game further, and the possibility of a breakthrough is always there – it has happened many times to players in their late 20’s and 30’s.

However, for some of our students, during the 2 or 3 years spent with TGC they decide that the professional game is not for them. That is when leaving TGC with a British university degree becomes really valuable. Students who left TGC in the first few years and went in to the golf industry are now in senior positions and still under 30 years old. TGC has built a reputation for turning out great potential employees, and this is increasingly being recognised by golf brands such as Troon, The Grove, Trackman, Trump and others.
